Belated New Year's Greetings. Wishing everyone a year of love, happiness and good health. Speaking of health, I'm off to a bad start. Just when I thought I was in tip top shape I hurt my knee and a terrible itch that I kept on scratching and boom -turned out to be a nasty hot spot.
I was fine Sunday morning, we took a post New Year stroll along Seaport Village and by the afternoon mom noticed that I've been scratching my neck and she treated it using home remedies. By Monday afternoon I was limping, my right leg is hanging in the air, I just could not get it to the ground. Went to the vet Tuesday. Was sedated so that they can take xrays of my hips and knees and they cleaned up my hot spot. The xrays show some puffiness on my knee. Not sure how I hurt my knee but I must be able to walk without any limp and discomfort in two weeks or I have to be rechecked. Yikes.
I have to warn you, being sedated can really mess up your mind. In my case, 24 hours later, it still has some effects and it makes you do crazy things, like hide in the corner, stare at the walls, dig in the carpet, stick your head under the coffee table. The only time I stick my head under the coffee table is to look for my toys not to hide.
Mom calls it my "stoned" look. I sat in the corner looking at the wall for about 30 minutes. I'm wearing a bandanna to cover my shaved neck and serve as a bandage cause it just looks bad.
Have you ever taken metacam? Watch out cause it can have bad side effects too. I lost my appetite and made me depressed, very depressed. Mom and dad said it was the saddest look they've ever seen. I wasn't interested in my squeaky toys or chicken jerky. Thank goodness the metacam and sedation meds are out of my system and I'm doing a bit better. I'm no longer limping but still a bit uncomfortable doing my potty business. I did however, scratched my neck again. It was healing nicely but it just was so itchy and I had to scratch. I went back to the vet yesterday and they prescribed anti-biotics. Mom and dad are not thrilled that I have to take meds but it would help heal faster and get rid of the infection. Whew, all that in four days. Enough of my health issues.
Here are some pictures taken during our stroll.
Take good care of your health. As the saying goes, health is wealth.

The walk looks like great fun, though, AND you look good, too.

Happy New Year to you and your family!
Oh Meeka, we are so sorry! We hope your knee will be okay and that your hot spot heals. I have one right now too and they are no fun. We hope you never have to have those bad drugs again. I know it's hard on the humans when we're sad seeing as they love us so much :(
Sorry to hear about your knee and hot spot! I hope you are feeling better soon. Happy New Year to you :)
